Jonathan Dembele Brands, the Royal TV Association “Cowards” to withdraw the Gaza Prize

Jonathan Dembbelli, CEOs of the Royal TV Association (RTS) described the cowardly to rid a prize for reporters in Gaza because they do not want to deepen the controversy over the BBC documentary on the conflict.

The historian and presenter is one of the 300 TV and films who signed a letter to society criticizing his decision at the last minute not to be awarded the award at the award ceremony last week, as a result of the repercussions from Gaza: how to survive.

The documentary was withdrawn from the BBC online broadcasting services in February, which is an internal investigation after it appeared that Abdullah Al -Yazuri, the 13 -year -old narrator, was the deputy minister of agriculture in Hamas.

Abdullah Al -Yazuri found himself in a controversial center about his role in a documentary on children who live in Gaza during the Israeli occupation – Amjad Al -Fayyumi/BBC

It also turned out that the daughter of Hamas, who seemed to celebrate the October 7 attacks, was paid while making it.

“The decision is Kravin and the reasons that were made on it – the fact that there is a problem about one BBC – deceptive and shallow film. No journalist working in Gaza has participated in making this film,” Demblby told the Times.

He added: “We rely heavily on reports from these journalists in Gaza, who put their lives on the line every day, because no Western journalists can enter only on trips specially made.

“RTS is truly held at a very great estimate and that he must suddenly abandon his role because he does not want to trample water is coward and unpretentious.”

“Fuel to shoot”

In an email to the president of the jury at the association, which he was martyred for the first time on the deadline of the news site, RTS said it did not want to “add fuel to fire in this current environment.”

“We planned to give her” journalists in Gaza “to recognize their huge efforts over 18 months or so of extreme pressure and endeavor. However, this award will not be awarded, in the end on Wednesday,” said Adrian Wales, head of the RTS TV press awards last week.

“This has already become political football and RTS is keen not to add fuel to fire in this current environment.

“It is a shame that this cannot continue, but be reassuring that there is a very strong offer to correct and recognize the press from Gaza throughout the evening.”

A RTS spokesman said: “Investigations were recently launched in a number of news reports from Gaza, and with the continuing of these reviews, we did not feel that it is appropriate to proceed with the award this year,” said a RTS spokesman.
