What American lawmakers say about the clash of the White House between Trump and Zelinski

WASHINGTON (AP) – Republicans and Democrats in Congress have been strong supporters of Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski, but the void between Ukrainian leader and President Donald Trump threatens to change this.

Zelinski traveled to Washington to sign a deal that allows the United States to access its metal wealth as Trump is trying to pressure Ukraine in a deal to end the war with Russia. Although support for Ukraine has declined between members of the Republican Congress in the three years that has passed on the invasion of Russia, the main Republicans hope that the deal will revive the American support for Kiev.

Instead, the repercussions of the hot oval office between Trump and Zelinski and Vice President JD Vance have many Republicans – even those who previously supported Ukraine – Yusbon Zelinski. For other lawmakers of the Republican Party who have long criticized American support for Ukraine, the stock exchange was an opportunity to renew Trump to reprimand the leader of Ukraine. For Democrats, it was evidence that Trump was playing in the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Here are what legislators in Congress in the future of Ukraine say in the balance:

Republicans who supported Ukraine in the past

Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina:

Graham described the meeting as a “complete and absolute catastrophe” and said he was “no more proud” in Trump.

“What I saw in the Oval Office was not respected and I do not know if we could do business with Zelenskyy again.”

Foreign Minister Marco Rubio:

“Thank you Potus for standing in America in a way that no courage president had before. Thank you for putting America first. America is with you!”

Parliament Speaker Mike Johnson, Louisiana:

“The death and destruction of the Russian war that was thrown immediately must stop, and only our American president can put these two countries on a path to permanent peace. President Zelinski needed to admit this, and to accept the proposal of the unusual metal rights partnership that President Trump put on the table. What we witnessed in the Oval Office today was an American president who puts America first.”

representative. Without Bacon, Nebraska:

“A bad day for America’s foreign policy. Ukraine wants independence, free markets and the rule of law. He wants to be part of the West. Russia hates us and our western values. We must be clear that we are defending freedom.”

representative. Mike Luller, New York:

“Diplomacy is difficult and often there are serious differences in opinion and hot exchanges behind closed doors. This spill in public opinion was a disaster – especially for Ukraine.”

representative. Brian Fitzpatrick, Pennsylvania:

“It was heartbreaking to witness the transformation of the events that took place at today’s meeting regarding the future of Ukraine. It is time to put understanding feelings aside and return to the negotiating table.”

Republicans who oppose Ukrainian aid

Sen. Josh Holie, Missouri:

Remember: The US Senate has repeatedly voted billions of dollars in taxes to Ukraine with no connected chains and without real supervision. It is time to account. “

Sen. Mike Lee, Utah:

“Thank you for defending our country and putting America first, President Trump and Vice President Vance!”

Sen. Roger Marshall, Kansas:

“Not another pence.”

representative. Andy Bigz, Arizona:

“The dictator Zelinski had the boldness for President Realdonaldtrump and VPJDVANCE during what should have been a friendly meeting, and Potus showed that the door had shown the door.

Democrats, who support an overwhelming majority of Ukraine

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, New York:

Trump and Fans do the dirty Putin. Democrats in the Senate will not stop fighting for freedom and democracy.

Hakim Jeffrez, New York:

“The White House meeting with the President of Ukraine was horrific and will only increase the encouragement of Vladimir Putin, a brutal dictator. The United States should not reward the Russian aggression and continue to appease Putin.”

Sen. Richard Blumerment, Connecticut:

“My strong and emotional hope is that the talks be resumed or restored, and that this event will not hinder constant support.”

“I have very strong hopes for the coalition that we have in Congress-a very strong alliance of the two parties-will be convincing to administration and others that we have a long-term security interest in Ukraine that prevails over Putin’s rude aggression.”

that it. Amy Cluboshr, Minnesota:

“The answer to Vans: Zelinski thanked our country again and repeatedly both.

Sen. Chris Murphy, Connecticut:

It was a planned ambush designed to embarrass President Zelinski in order to benefit from Vladimir Putin. It was embarrassing. It was an abomination. What I saw is the destruction of the American power in the world, where everyone watches President Trump becomes delicious for a brutal dictator in Moscow. “
