Why is this important
The alliance between the cell maker in Georgia, the heline, and Corning is a meaningful milestone in the efforts made to create an American solar manufacturing sector that can compete with China. The new unit has a solar cell with a local content of up to 66 percent – the highest in the market, according to companies.
The product will allow solar project developers to qualify to obtain a 10 % local content tax credit in addition to the top credit credit to reduce inflation in clean energy projects by 30 %.
