The US Space Force said on Friday that the uninhabited SpacePlane was sent to the Earth’s orbit in late 2023, and he fell at the Vandenberg Space Base in California overnight.
The X-37B Orbital-7 test vehicle was launched in space by Spacex on a long-term secret military mission to the US space force on December 29, 2023, CBS news previously mentioned. It was in the high orbit, or about 20,000 miles above the surface of the planet, for 434 days. The test vehicle did not have a crew.
The American satellite force said in a press statement that the craft “has completed a set of test goals and experimentation aimed at showing the power of the strong X-37B maneuver with help in describing the space field by testing awareness technology experiences in space” while it is in orbit. And the space force on social media said last month that one of these goals included a new operation test called Aerobraking, which witnessed that the craft is safely changing orbit during the minimum fuel.
Another group of experiments that tested “space awareness technology”, which helped improve the knowledge of space strength in the space environment, according to the press statement. “With an increasingly crowded and convergent environment,” said space force, “with the surrounding environments” for the benefit of all users.
The craft successfully fell at the Vandenberg Space Base at 2:22 am EST, or 11:22 pm local time. The space force said that the landing tested the craft’s ability to recover through multiple locations.
The online shared photos show the car on the ground at the base, where Space Force members stand near. The base has a three-miles designed specifically for the B-37 Craft, previously mentioned by CBS News.
The director of the X-37B program, Lieutenant Pleen Stewart, said that the successful operations of the letter “wrote a new chapter” and put a sign of “an important landmark in the continuous development of the dynamic mission of the American space force.”
The space strength has the access to the X-37B craft. The letter, designed by Boeing, is designed to help test the aviation electronics and advanced sensors, evaluate the components of the reusable spacecraft and provide a platform for experiments that can be analyzed on the ground. Space aircraft feature the delta wings, the heat shield tiles and the compatible load Gulf, and it is operated by an extendable sunflower that allows very long trips.
